Collective Knowledge Construction: The Power and Challenge of Learning in Group work and strategies to succeed
Learning that occurs through dialogic activity has power in strengthening student understanding. We will look at the cognitive research on knowledge construction through dialogue. We will use case studies of this approach in action. We will look at and practice different approaches to strengthen productive discourse in classrooms. We will co-develop a checklist of activities and behaviors to support teachers increasing student group work in their classrooms. We will also review the guidelines to support positive productive group work with students.
