Re-Inventing the Learning Community in an Elementary Setting
Elementary teachers understand the value of social connection in their classrooms as the necessary first step towards learning. Experienced teachers spend the critical first days of a new year or a new classroom helping students to cooperate in order to get business done and to collaborate in order to problem-solve, negotiate learning, and create new knowledge. What are we learning about transitioning students to become a virtual learning community? How do we help children reach beyond the screen to reframe “community”?
